First Test

Our first test did not come out as well as we had hoped.  Power worked and television received some kind of signal, but the game definitely did not display.  Not sure whether there is something wrong with the TV out, or if we soldered a wire in the wrong place, or if we accidentally connected two things that should not have been connected, or if we really screwed up the board.  Hopefully not the last one, since that would most likely end the project.  Next steps are to find out what the problem is - and hopefully to fix it.  [Photos are in Step 4]

What is this?

This is a project by my son and I to covert an Atari 2600 into a mobile, handheld game system - basically, a large GameBoy.  He likes retro games and handheld systems, so this is a natural combination!  (or if not natural, at least pretty unique).

Is this a crazy idea? - probably so 
Is this going to be difficult?  - yes, most definitely
Will we succeed?  - I have no idea
Why would we do such a thing? - why not?
